NotebookLM or Gemini: which one for studying
If you have sources and want to study from them, NotebookLM. If you have questions and no sources, Gemini. Both are Google products, which is exactly why people assume one replaces the other when they do two different jobs.

A row where one side has no verified number is left out entirely, because readers read a half-empty row in favour of the filled side.
The main difference is one number: fifty against ten
NotebookLM takes up to 50 sources in one notebook; Gemini takes up to 10 files in one request. For anyone pulling together a book chapter, a few papers and their class notes, that number decides it and the rest of the argument is detail.
The second difference is the shape of the output. From the same sources NotebookLM produces not just a summary but an audio overview, a video overview, a mind map, flashcards, a quiz, a data table and a slide deck. Gemini gives you text, and good text, but it does not generate another format.
Where Gemini pulls ahead
When there is no source. NotebookLM deliberately answers only from what you gave it, which is what makes its citations trustworthy, but it also means a question outside your sources has no answer. Gemini carries no such limit.
Language coverage is close but not equal: 80 languages in NotebookLM against 70 in Gemini, Persian included in both.
Why the table above is short
We could not read Google plan prices from a primary source. The plans page builds its figures in JavaScript and geolocates our server to Germany, so no number exists in the raw HTML. Until we have a sourced figure, we leave the price row out rather than fill it with a guess.

Questions people actually ask
Is NotebookLM the same thing as Gemini
No. Both are Google and the model underneath is from the same family, but NotebookLM answers only from the sources you uploaded and Gemini answers from general knowledge. NotebookLM has also been formally renamed Gemini Notebook, which has made the two sound more alike than they are.
Which is better for Persian
Both support Persian, NotebookLM across 80 languages and Gemini across 70. We have not seen a noticeable difference on Persian text; what actually decides it is the source count, not the language.
