Gemini Notebook or Claude: which one for studying

How much of that gap is real
Most of it is. In the output-formats column Gemini Notebook takes 4 of 4 and Claude 1 of 4, because from one set of sources it produces an audio overview, a video overview, a mind map, flashcards, a quiz, a data table and a slide deck, while Claude produces text.
But part of it is our missing data and we should say so: two of Claude cells in that table are unverified, the source count and the language count. Anthropic publishes no figure for the capacity of a project, neither files nor words. For Gemini Notebook both numbers are published: 50 sources per notebook and 80 output languages. So part of that 65 point gap is a difference in publishing rather than in capability.
A difference the ranking says nothing about
Gemini Notebook deliberately answers only from what you uploaded and points every sentence back at its source. Claude answers from general knowledge and has a learning mode that asks you questions instead of handing over the answer. The first is for the night before the exam, the second is for understanding a hard idea.
The Iran column is identical for both
Neither lists Iran among its supported countries and neither takes a direct payment. Both have a free tier, so if you can reach them, trying costs nothing.
